Nordic influence has been cropping up across the capital especially in the area of interior design. Add to that the rise of Nordic detective story books and Nordic noir on our TV screens and the Scandimania is officially in Bratislava! And now we have a new favorite place that embraces the Scandinavian spirit at its very core: Sort is a lovely coffee spot combined with a concept store with the Scandinavian interior design products.
You will love the way how their treats are served and how tastefully each designer piece fits with the rest of the interior. A lovely space with a vibrant atmosphere full of beauty and a perfect center location!
Unfortunately, this place will be open only until end of June 2018.
Sort is located on Dunajska Street in the Old Town. It stands opposite to the Mestiansky pivovar – our favourite spot for beer and best ribs in town.

The interior channels Denmark, with a wooden counter, concrete-look overhead lamp pieces and chairs and light colored floor. Very distinctive is the industrial ceiling with revealed plumbing and wires.
In principle, the interior is minimalist, making use of its full-length windows to offer views over the street. Admittedly the view isn’t particularly scenic but the effect is stylish all the same. But the most charming things here are the little decorations that you can get for yourself: designer plates, dinner porcelain, vases or other cute pieces ready to make your home more stylish if you fall for them.
There is only one room that is logically divided by the dominant counter – the front part serves more as a coffee place and the back part more as a concept store.
WHY IS SORT SPECIAL?
Sort is a concept store selling Danish brand Broste Copenhagen. It is one of Scandinavia’s leading interior brands, based in Copenhagen and originating back in 1955. It has a long tradition of travelling the world for inspiration and materials, as the Scandinavians have always done. We especially love their plates, which you can test when you order something sweet – they use them for serving.
They have an e-shop, too.
WHAT TO HAVE AT SORT?
This is a coffee spot, so don’t expect elaborate or even cooked meals. You can choose from a few salty snacks. The food follows suit, with elegant presentation and simply-prepared ingredients chosen over complex assemblies. For example, we loved our sandwich with radishes.
The sweet options are overwhelming, they offer tasty macarons, cheesecakes, tartlets and other amazing treats depending on the daily offer.
We were happy with the nice service each time and were leaving the place energized, with a positive feel. It might be true that the beautiful surroundings make you feel more relaxed. What do you think?
