Last year was the second year since this website was launched. Some of the major news included the birth of the Humans of Bratislava section – interviewing interesting personas that have a Bratislava-related story, kicking off the monthly events articles which quickly became a huge success among you, and last but not least – to my great pleasure – I „recruited“ my best friend to join me in writing so for the past few months this project has been propelled by the two of us. Two heads are better than one (every time) so it naturally resulted in more frequent articles, more ideas and even more plans to do this year – stay tuned to see what’s next! But for now, we are happy to share the list of the 10 most popular posts of 2015 defined by the number of views – enjoy:
This article is helpful mainly for people who plan to visit our capital and haven’t been here yet. It covers some basic questions like „where actually Slovakia is,“ „what is the time zone“ or „do I need VISA to get here“ :D You can also learn other things, for example that beer is in many cases cheaper than water. Don’t believe us? Click here.
In general the hip and cool cafes/places are those you seem to like the most. At least when it comes to checking them out at this page. This is also the reason we try to look for more of them and give you interesting tips in this area – more to come soon! :)
The last day of the year is usually a big celebration everybody is looking forward to. We prepared a list of the best events we thought might be interesting for visitors of Bratislava. Seems you got inspired, having seen how many of you clicked on it :)
There are many great places in Bratislava where you can dine but not all of them have dedicated breakfast menus. On the other hand, there are places we would usually not choose to eat at, but have amazing breakfast menus. It took us quite some time to map which places are worth of listing in the category „best breakfast in Bratislava.“ And we are glad you like to read about them!
Free of charge museums, galleries, palaces, tour guides and sport halls. Various markets, festivals, concerts and performances held. No entrance fee to ZOO, getting to the backstage of our theater or to the underground of chosen chapels, having free rides on our historical vehicles – this is just a pinch of what is prepared for all Bratislava visitors each spring time. Check what the program was in 2015.
One of the most beautiful periods of the year in Bratislava is definitely during the last weeks of the year, when people celebrate the scents of Christmas on the street markets. Christmas markets are so popular among locals and tourists that the city is probably never so constantly packed like it is from the end of November until the third week of December. Find out what they look like.
You only have one day to spend in Bratislava and don’t know what are the most important things to do, see, eat and buy? What shall you definitely not miss? Here is a quick guide to spend a classic day in Bratislava and leave with the most experiences possible, which was one of the most popular articles we wrote.
Getting to know Bratislava through its people – whether i tis locals living here, foreigners living here or visitors coming to spend a few days in our capital, we like to meet with interesting people and ask them about what they actually like about Bratislava. You can find various interviews here.
We are not really surprised that you like to read about the current happenings in town. It can get difficult to have a good overview of all the events spread on different websites or magazines (which are very often only in Slovak language). We’ll try to write more about the events in Bratislava – check the current January ones here!
The article about the time of the year when Easter eggs and bunnies invade all the stores and adverts, we eat too many cakes and enjoy a long weekend, reached the absolutely highest reading rate. Do you know the Slovak traditions and how guys like to water the girls in this period of the year? Remind yourself here.
Happy New Year once again and thanks for reading!
