MISCHA MAISKY 8.7.
Mischa Maisky is unquestionably one of the world’s best-known and most sought-after artists in the field of classical music. Poetry and delicacy are combined in his playing with grand temperament and virtuoso technique. He has collaborated with almost all of the world-ranking orchestras and conductors. He has made more than fifty recordings for the prestigious German publishing house Deutsche Grammophon. In concert at the Viva Musica! Festival he will perform a solo recital accompanied by his daughter, the pianist Lily Maisky.

EDITA GRUBEROVA 22.7.
The world-famous soprano Edita Gruberová makes guest appearances on the most prestigious opera stages in the entire world, and from the beginning of her career she has enthralled the world with her incredible voice and exceptional personality. She will will appear in an exclusive opera recital accompanied by the Slovak pianist and conductor Peter Valentovič.

JEAN RONDEAU – BACH CONCERTOS 29.7.
He is only 25, but the professional music critics have already labelled him a “Wunderkind”. With his ambition to return its popularity to a musical instrument that had its golden age in the Baroque period (until it was replaced by the hammer piano), harpsichordist Jean Rondeau is a perfect example of the motto of the Viva Musica! Festival: “classic goes modern”. n the Viva Musica! Festival he is appearing together with other outstanding musicians – Sophie Gent (1st violin), Louis Creac’h (2nd violin), Fanny Paccoud (viola), Antoine Touche (cello), Thomas de Pierrefeu (double bass) and Evolène Kiener (bassoon) – with whom he will perform harpsichord concertos by Johann Sebastian Bach and his sons.

PAGAGNINI 5.8.
The PaGAGnini project presents works by great masters of music in new musical clothes with a seasoning of humour and typical Spanish temperament. The quartet comprises four top-ranking musicians, who combine classical music elegantly and resourcefully with other genres such as folk and rock. The ensemble has won a number of prestigious awards in England, Germany, and needless to say, Spain. At the Viva Musica! festival it is making its Slovak premiere.

RICHARD GALLIANO SEXTET 12.8.
Richard Galliano was born in 1950 in Cannes. Thanks to his exceptional talent and the help of his musician father, he has been able to establish the accordeon in musical contexts where this instrument has hitherto been ignored: in classical concert halls and at jazz festivals. Those he has collaborated with include Astor Piazzolla, with whom he had a friendship of many years. At the Viva Musica! Festival he is appearing with his sextet. Apart from Piazzolla’s compositions, they will also perform works by Antonio Vivaldi and others.

KRONOS QUARTET 19.8.
Kronos Quartet is an American string quartet which engages systematically in the performance of contemporary classical music. Its work is founded upon long-term collaboration with world-renowned composers. More than 600 compositions have been written specially for the ensemble and it has also become widely known for its successful film soundtracks (for example, in Requiem for a Dream (2000)). Among its other awards, the ensemble can boast of one Grammy and nine Grammy nominations.
