One of the best summer chill out spots in Bratislava. Imagine hot sand under your feet while listening to the waves of the Danube river, listening to live music or attending a workshop. Add some great cocktails, good food, lively atmosphere and a view on the Castle and Old Bridge. That’s all here. No wonder Tyrsak beach is a popular place not only for tourists but also locals.
LOCATION
Tyrsak is spread along the Danube bank from Petržalka side (the side where the UFO tower is standing), almost right under the Old Bridge. It occupies an abandoned parking lot of a former amusement park.
To get there from the Old Town you will need to walk across the Old Bridge. It is a very nice walk and will take you only 10-15 minutes. Alternatively, take a tram n. 3 and get off at Sad Janka Kráľa stop, Divadlo Aréna. You can also get here by walking from Aupark through Sad Janka Kráľa for about 7 minutes.
WHY IS TYRSAK SPECIAL
In cooperation with the city of Bratislava, this area has been revitalized and turned into a vibrant city beach where relaxation, entertainment and culture combines.
Beach concept prides itself on being sustainable and eco-friendly. A food & drink zone has been created that uses compostable dishes. There are several waste recycling zones with detailed instructions about where to dispose of your items.
Our favourite food spots here are Edo Kin offering Asian cuisine (they made it to our list of top ramen places with there brick and mortar restaurants) and Marinela (with the best popsicles ever). Another nice thing is that payments by card are possible here.
Various discussions and cultural events are part of the monthly programme. Check their website to see the program of the month.
There are also two beach volleyball courts available free of charge. You can book them here.
If you are a parent, you might be glad to find out that there is a large area dedicated to kids. Plus, children just love the sandy areas! There are quite many toys available for the kids to play in the sand, too. It’s simply a win-win destination for all the family members 🙂
