One of the best breakfast places in town. Delicious locally roasted coffee, the best American pancakes with maple syrup, perfect location in the heart of Bratislava, super friendly personnel. What else to add? This cafe just rocks. Make sure you pop in at least for a quick coffee!
First of all, there are two Moods cafes in Bratislava. The one at the Hviezdoslav’s Square is the biggest and our favorite. The other Moods cafe/bakery is on Košická Street.
Moods cafe is somehow different compared to the other classic cafes in Bratislava. It is very tastefully furnished, with wooden tables and chairs, simple lamps and shelves of bottles hanging on the white walls. We like that the seating is set up along the big glass windows, through which you have a great view on the square and the UFO bridge.
This cafe looks more like a stylish coffee shop to us. The breakfast menu is written on the big boards behind the bar so you don’t even need to sit down before ordering, just do it as the first thing and then wait for the treat to be brought to your table.
The wall next to the main entrance has many shelves with items you can purchase – from various cups to bottles of oil, vinegar, wines etc.
All the fresh pastry can be checked in the large glass boxes that are on the main bar – it helps you make a choice on what to pick. You can also ask the personnel, they are very friendly and will surely be glad to help you choose. In the back part there is a small room with one table. For those who want some privacy :) There is also another entrance to the cafe from this side.
WHAT TO HAVE IN THE MOODS BAKERY & COFFEE?
For us this place represents good breakfast. If you ask us, we will tell you to come in the morning and try their breaky. Eggs on many styles, pancakes, cakes, croissants, quiches, cookies, sandwiches, donuts, muffins… that’s what you can have to start your day with. One big plus Moods cafe has from us is that they bake their own bread and it is always fresh. We really like their English breakfast (just wish they used different sausages) – the eggs, beans, bacon and tomato taste very good though. If you like omelets, you do not want to miss this place!
Our very top recommendation is the pancakes with marmalade and maple syrup. THE BEST THING. We are still dreaming of that day we tried them for the first time. We mean it. That is just a must-try thing. Make sure you wake up before 11:00 – this is the time they stop serving breakfast.
You might be glad to find out there is a super large selection of home-made cakes and many types of coffee. If you like strudels, try the poppy-seed and cherry strudel – it is not too sweet, just perfectly done. We also liked their orange raw cake. The Bratislava rolls were not the best we’ve had. And regarding the coffee, it is a need to say that the coffee is locally roasted. They have their own blend called the „Good Mood Coffee“ – which is delicious (totally in love with the macchiato and cappuccino!) :)
Moods bakery & coffee is also great for coming with a book or for reading newspapers. If you are an Internet addict, there is some good news – they have a free wi-fi available here, just ask the staff for the password :)
