- Tips are not included in bills
- There is no clear standard and in general tipping in Slovakia is cheaper compared to other western countries
- Round up to the nearest euro, or depending on the amount of your bill, remember to leave around 10 % tip
- If you really don’t like the service, you don’t need not leave anything
If you have a bill of let’s say 8,30 €, you are paying with a 10 € note and you want to leave a 0,70 € tip, tell the waiter „nine.“ He will understand to give you back one euro. Always tell the waiter the final sum you want to leave at the place when paying. And remember not to say „thank you“ if you want some change back – the signal you are sending to a waiter with your „thank you“ means s/he can keep the whole change 🙂
